Had first time guest Chase and Brandon on the boat ... started at 6:30 am and fished till 10:30 am ... Brandon plays baseball for Texas and was just drafted by the Detroit Tigers so the dads got them a guide trip on Hubbard ... found fish on structure in 22-26 ft water early... big birds are looking but no schooling yet.. another week .. it should be here. We fished just a few spots and founds loads of white bass ... had our limit by 9:00 am ... 1 legal hybrid.. didnt fish hybrid heights but did check it and nothing was there yet... we did get 1 legal hybrid.. and some huge whites today. Brandon had to go "work out" so we left early.. All fish caught on Fiesta slabs in 16-26 ft water .. water temp was 85 degrees with a E-SE- wind 0-10 mph.. No fish in the mornings at the secrete spot Thanks guys it was a pleasure and good luck with the Baseball career

I have also done some fun fishing in the afternoons , if you can stand the heat .. The hybrid fishing as been great !!!

Had one of my favorite guest on the boat yesterday . Now, I love all my guest but Leonard and his crew always have a great time… fished from 6:20 am till 10:45 am. Fishing was great to say the least. I didn’t find any schooling action but who needs too when they are stacked up on structure,,, we caught the most whites out of my boat this year.. we only kept big whites and the smaller ones that where bleeding. We had our 100 fish limit by 8:45 am and caught and released the rest of the morning. Let’s just say we caught over 200 but less than 300 in the morning we fished …. I noticed a couple of reports about top water action… I haven’t seem to find that.. but I have been fishing structure … let a brother in on the top water bite I have also notice the afternoons id the time to catch hybrids, I haven’t found many in the morning times… but my guest are happy.. Guys it was great once again .. and Leonard always a thrill to have you on the boat.. All fish caught on slabs from www.moestackleshop.com in 18-26 ft water…. Winds where 10-15 S and water temps where 85.6 degrees.

The best time of year to fish is Mother's Day and Valentines There was only 2 other boats on the lake today Fished with good friend Ruben this morning from 6:30 am till 11:00 am. Started out where we did Friday and they were there.. just not as much ... once agin winds were very strong !!!! You would have thought with the wind.. clouds that we would have had schooling fish all morning.. but that didnt happen.. we went to check some other sots and put the old graph to the test I love hunting fish !!! we found a group of whites and sat there for 2 hours with none stop action... We did catch 7 hybrids early and so many white bass I you would belive me if I told you Ruben even caught a huge crappie All in all a wonderful day on Hubbard.. All fish caught in 5-26 ft water , winds were 15-25 S and water temp was 68-69 degress... All caught on Lures from www.moestackleshop.com ... I have some dates open.. give me a ring.. this time of year is good for catching and teaching trips.. not only do you learn but you catch also

Was on Cedar Creek again this morning to help Billy with a big trip.. We had guides from multiple lakes today.. ThreeSeas, Sassy Man and Don Novak joined in our quest. Once again the winds were terrible and it was an [censored] whoop ride … we all kinda spread out a little to start and we worked multiple spots.. The fish were not stacked up in many places but they would run through.. All in all a good day of fishing.. they wanted to keep some fish for a fry so we didn’t have to keep limits today … All the boats caught good fish and I Don’s boat was the only one with a hybrid. All the fish in my boat were caught on slabs from www.moestackleshop.com in 17-23 ft water.. winds were HORRIBLE and water temp was 68 degrees. Good working with you guys today … I know some of the guys on the boat look at the TFF and it was a pleasure.. you guys where a great group ..

Fished with good friend Ruben this morning for a few hours.. he had to leave by 9:00am . Fished from 6:30 am till 8:45 am … I went straight to an area that holds fish this time of year and they where already swirling !!!! I called Seapro Todd to let him know.. Ruben and I started out throwing 4 in sassy shad but we were getting hit to death,,, so I swithed over to the 3” Co-Mo and started nailing whites.. The Ruben hooked onto a hybrid.. I was like dangit.. I stayed with the 3 “ and we ended up with 7 hybrids legal and a boat load of whites.. after Todd showed up I started keeping some whites for the TFF fish fry he said he would clean them , I didn’t even think it about till he said something. When that slowed we moved around and Todd and I stayed pretty close together still catching fish… What a beautiful morning on the water… no wind.. I have a big group trip on CC tomorrow so when I had to drop off Ruben I went ahead and loaded the boat.. going to ba a long day tomorrow.. Had the privilege once again to participate in the annual FisherMatts weekend of fishing and fun. I have been helping Billy Seaman on this trip for the last 5-6 years and it is always fun. We started out with horrible winds out of the South and it was a butt whooping of a ride.. I seen a few boats over on a flat that looked like Chuck, they already looked a little crowded so I moved on and I thought for a moment when I made my way farther south that I was on Hubbard.. 14 boats in a boat show!!! Ease my way up and there was Omar .. good seeing you… we caught a few whites there and an under hybrid… Billy went ahead a moved.. 5 minutes later he called and said fish were popping … headed his way and we never left that area.. Billy and my boat had 4 people and we both limited out on whites.. only a couple of hybrids for us.. but the guys had fun .. Matt and his other boat caught good fish also.. not bad for them not having trolling motors.. the wind was strong, then flat calm then picked back up.. even hit a few little showers on the way in.. fished from 7:30 am till 11:30am , all fish caught on SSS slabs from http://www.moestackleshop.com/ in 11-27 ft water … Thank you Matt for letting me help again..

Got a chance to fish with good buddy Ruben this morning . Started out at 6:30 am and fished till 8:30 am when the winds got up. Ruben had to leave at 9:15 am so I didn’t want to fight the 30 + winds … started out at a spot that holds fish this time of year.. we caught a few and then we moved. Got a call from somebody and went his way.. caught a couple then I spotted something down the way and a bunch of whites …. When the smaller fished moved in that somebody went another way.. he called again.. good catching with a nice hybrid… all fish caught in 5-25 ft water, winds where 10-20 mph S-SE water was 71 degrees… the 3 “ Coco-MO was the ticket today…. I think Moe’s tackle has a few at http://www.moestackleshop.com/. I have some Sundays open give me a call and lets go.. fishing is good right now…

Fished Ray Hubbard this morning with 3 generations on family this morning …Gerald , Anthony ( son) and his father this morning. I told Gerald last night….. we have a very bad wind advisory and might only get out for an hour or two.. he said he didn’t care.. he just wanted to fish with his family.. we had lures in the water at 7:45 am and pulling up to the dock at 8:50am… not a bad morning.. they caught about 40 fish and kept a few for the fryer. Lake Tawakoni Report 4-5-11

Fished Tawakoni today.. winds were high once again. It was a little slow to start but the bite picked up later in the day. Water temps were 63 degrees and that front that came through scattered them out. All fish caught on lures from http://www.moestackleshop.com/ and the 4 inch sassy shad was the ticket. Fished a group trip with Doug “ Sassy Man” today on Hubbard… fished from 7:30 am till 12:00 pm. Started hunting and didn’t find much… Doug’s group came way under dressed … He was nice enough to take them back and will continue his trip in the afternoon today. Had to check multiple spots before we found fish…. No birds.. all graph looking  We caught a few in the spot I found this weekend ,,, when that died I was going to one spot when for some reason.. a light bulb went off in my head!!! I checked a spot that usually holds fish this time of the year later in the mornings…. And guess what.. THEY were there  we went through multiple flurries of 5 on at a time …. We caught a lot of whites… no hybrids and some of the biggest yellow bass I have seen on Hubbard … Lots of good sized whites all released… the water temp was 65 Saturday and 60 today… winds were NE 15 mph.. Remember.. slow presentation.. sometimes even perfectly still … all fish caught on SSS chartreuse 1 oz slabs from www.moestackleshop.com. If anybody wanting to fish Hubbard give me a call…

Hello guys and girls … well after a knee surgery recovery and a cracked fuel tank in the boat .. I am back on the water. Ruben joined me for a little Hubbard fishing this morning and I can tell you the winds are still there !! we fished from 8-11 am when we finally got tired of the rodeo of waves… had to use the electronics to find fish today. We were limited on the areas to fish but did manage a 2 man limit on white bass… no hybrids and yes.. a few yellow bass… all fish caught on SSS 1 oz slabs from http://www.moestackleshop.com/ in 19-30 ft water. Winds were SW 15-25- mph and the water temp was a blistery 65 degrees. Presentation was very important… just a slight lift.. and it would be like a wet lump of grass on the end.

Well boys and girls ... Spring is near .. We have warm weather and the fishing is picking up. I had knee surgery so I was out of pocket for a while. At least it happened in the slow season . Fished with first time guest Dave and his father from EL PASO Ron... we started out pretty early and it paid off The fast Alley was the ticket for us...we found multiple schools of fish holding good... when that played out we fished structure.. The structure fishing was not as good as lasy week but it was not bad.. no big hybrids for us but pleanty of whites...since I will not be on the lake this weekend I will tell ya the place we caught them... GPS-123, GPS-115, GPS-32 and GPS- honey hole.... all fish caught on Moe's tackle in 15-35 ft water.. winds were 10mph S and water temp was 87 degrees.. we got off the water right when the storms came in.. remember this.. if you fish this weekend, and I am not talking to regulars.. when fish school... turn your big motor off at least 75 yrds and use your trolling motor.. you will catch alot more fish.. also.. there is no reason to troll hellpets thru schooling fish.. Fished repeat guest Mike and Son William.. this time William brought his twin sister She never has well we went one way… when we should have stayed with my original plan.. When we arrive South there was already too many boats for fish to stay up I guess because reports the night before about catching schooling fish south ... we tried to play a little bit but it was hopeless so.. we moved around the lake and finally found fish stacked on some structure.. a mix between medium and small whites.. With more yellow bass then I have seen … the whites would move out.. Yellows would move in… we did manage 1 legal hybrid,, the kids had a good time and we cleaned them some fish… All fish caught on Moe’s Fiesta Slabs and SSS slabs in 17-35 ft of water North of the dam but south on the river.. water was 84 degrees and South wind 10-15…

Had first time guest and long time high school friend Rea with her kids David and Ashley… I tell ya what… this is what fishing is about… the morning was slow at first and it got extremely windy. But we found fish schooling, not as big as Friday’s but lots of them… they were not keeping fish.. so we was not worried about size we just wanted those kids to catch fish… and they did… on zebcos with tiny torpedoes and Fast Alleys Rea, the mother did not do well… I would have never guessed a person could get sea sick on a lake she was bad… we finally had to leave the fish cause she could not handle it anymore… first time that has happened on my boat. We had to stop in a calm cove for a little for her to get her self together so… the kids jumped in they were having fun and they didn’t care .. Water was 81-82 degrees with South wind 10-25mph again… The date on the camera is wrong.. so I know... but Todd was out there.. he seen me

All I have to say is .. sorry Tom.. if you read this report.. I had a trip today but thought it would be best to cancel because the weatherman said 20-mph winds by 8:00am... we they didnt get ral bad till 10:00am plus the fish were in an area that we were protected just a bit. I went ahead and went this morning just to fish a couple of hours before the bad winds.. I do not live far so if I fish an hour and have to go no biggie... I didnt want Tom driving that far and we not able to fish our full half day.. Fishing was stupid good... we had fish schooling ... at least a mile long... topwaters were the ticket.. our anything else you had tied on..

Had repeat guest Mike and William on the boat this morning we started out early 6:30am and finished around 11:30 am. Found lots of shad but no fish at first... then moved away from all the shad and found fish.. go figure... we had big whites and 17 in hybrids blowing a few shad out of the water. Got 2 legal hybrids and 5 unders mixed with whites. later in the morning had schooling whites with mixes of small, midsize and large. The lack of wind did not help too much today.. When that was over we only picked up a few more fish... not a bad day.. All fish caught on Fast Alley's , Flitter baits and a few on small top waters. In the water.. Winds were N-NE not much... It kinda got hot about 10:30 am... The fish are feeding but you have to find them.. they are not holding on much structure that I found.

Fishing was very good for us this morning.... had a group from Rusty Wallis .. they had a contest for the top 3 salemaen and JC, John and Kenneth won .... we had to work a little but it paid off.. Found fish schooling and we were throwing top water, fast alleys and Co ho's... the schooling action is starting a littel bit .... had a mix of big whites and small hybrids. Water was 72 degrees and winds were strong S 10-20 mph.

I have helped Billy Seaman with this trip for 5 years now.. and the fishing keeps getting better!! We got a late start because of the storms this morning but the fishing was still good. Started out a little slow with smaller white bass put picked up real nice. Later in the morning we found the hybrids, Billy was at one area of the lake and I was at the other. We had our best luck today with the Fast Ally's from Moe's and the Flitter baits from www.smacktackle.com.. f you like rattle style lipless crank baits I would take a look at these baits. So after braid in the trolling motor, tangled lines, broken rod and broken net we we hit the hybrids pretty good. All fish caught on SSS. Slabs, shanghai swim baits and Fast Ally's from Moes and Flitter baits from Smacktackle in 6-23 ft water.. I forgot to even look at the water temps , with N-NE winds at 5-20 mph.. Thanks again Billy and Matt for helping with this trip again.. it is always an adventure

Fished with repeat guest Mike and son William… After the rains BLEW through we headed out and did not see the life on the shore I seen the day before. Checked a few spots with nothing to show and had to move around a lot… the skies cleared to bright blue and the winds were not bad… finally found a pocket of fish and William was whacking them but the problem was they were small.. Only a few keepers out of the bunch. Moved more and the winds around 10:30 am became really strong so we moved out of the wind.. I usually do not have much luck out of the wind … made our way back North and the winds became very dangerous … I do not know what they were but 3-4 ft swells are not good.. we gently and carefully made our way back in around 11:00am… Not a good day of fishing… but told Mike we would get them next time… All fish caught on Mytee Moes slabs and the flitter bait from www.smacktackle.com.. The other day I seen fish chase my lure al the way to the boat and wanted to try to entice them a little more with some rattle :D Water warmed up to 69 degrees and winds were 10-god only knows how strong out of the E-S-SW. And yes... the Mytee Moe catching these green fish too ...

Fished with good friend Super Duck …. Started early and fish by myself for a while… Super had to take the kids to school… caught a few fish but then the rains came in… I waited out the rains and for Super for a little more than an hour. When he got there the rains stopped. We headed out and found some fish way South and moved around … did not find much… I guess the rains spread them out pretty good… we later found fish on a drop off and steadily caught fish for an hour or so, mixed bag of small and medium fish.. called it at 1:00pm… All fish caught on Mitty Moes and Fast Alley’s in 15- 21 ft water… Winds were South and strong then weak… Water was 67-68 degrees.

Fished from 4:30pm till around 7:30pm because it was a wonderful day outside. Stopped at my first spot and marked fish... caught them there for 1.5 hours.... non stop... finally got some company and chatted with a few fellow TFF's. I moved south and seen a couple of friendly faces and stopped to chat... fish were there also.. but small.... check acouple of more spots and found fish again... caught alot fish in a short time but had to pick thru them for keepers. All fish caught on Mighty Moe's and Fast Ally's in 13-22 ft water.. Winds were nice 5 mph and water temps were 70-71 degrees..

Fished with good friends Superduck and Nathen. we started at 7 am and fished till 10;30am... the guys wanted to cook hot dogs!!! found fish.. caught fish...but after 9:30am or so we checked a few spots and didnt find much.. but a couple of the guys stayed where we were at and still caught some fish... later got a phone call that somebody found some more but we were already at the dock. All fish caught on Moe's lures.. the Fast Ally was smoking hot along with the small CO-Mos with the blade... We also slabed some up with the Mityy Moe in anywhere from 6-23 ft water.. water was warmer up north... 67 degress compared to 64 down south.. winds were perfect all day...no big hybrids wew caught caught a few unders :)The nice thing was... fish were where they are suppose to be ... I have been telling my guest to wait... I think we are done waiting

Hit the lake with bud "EL" at 6:00pm and fished till a little after 7:30pm. Winds were nice S 5-10 and water was 65-67 degrees.. caught fish in 2 spots... not gang busters... but graphing was the key and at least we found them All fish caught on Fast Alley's, Mytee Moe's in15-21FT water...

Well the whitebass/hybrid fishing is still very tuff. So I have been doing a little cat fishing. We caught around 45 and we kept 35 and had a huge fish fry ..... I will report as soon as I start catching some of my fish again!!!!

Here we go guys....I only found fish in one spot... but man they were thick... nice fat ones at that. I know there are great reports about the river but not all those fish go , I usually do fairly well in March but the cold/high water has made it a challenge... at least I am encouraged water temps are getting right... and next week looks like more warming so we should be good except for this front this weekend... All fish caught in 26-29-ft water on Fast Alley Tail Spinner and the Mytee Moe Tungsten Slab from Moe's with SLOOOWWWWWWWW presentation. Winds were E-S at 5 mph and water temp was 57-60 degrees and was just a wonderful sunny day...I caught fish for over an hour but only at one spot.I small hybrid and 1 yellow bass was in the mix also.. If you get a chance to get by Moe's Tackle next weekend for his garage sale I would.... those new fast Alleys are great, lots of vibration and you can slow roll them and the spinner will still move... That will be my new spring lure... just throw and reel..

Since the whitebass/hybrid fishing on Hubbard as been horrible we decided to try a little catfishing. Bryon from TNT Lures was in town so we had planned a fishing trip but did not know what we were going to do. So … EL Nitro, Champion Gene , Bryon and myself gave it a try… we started out at 8:30 am and found bait real easy.. matter a fact it was so easy I was worried that the day would go down hill from there … if you know what I mean! we had way more bait then needed in 10 minutes.. all threadfin no gizzard… we loaded the boat back up on the trailer and decided to launch some ware closer to the area we was going to fish… picked or first spot and within 30 minutes had the first fish on … it was pretty good action the whole morning… we finally got a big fish and Byron took the rod… man those big ones can fight… we also notice we were getting bit more on the side of the boat that was shallower.. so we moved about 50 feet closer, don’t know if it made a difference but 10 minutes later Gene had his big one on… all we heard was a huge splash we moved when that action slowed and found a spot very similar to the one we started… was there 10 minutes and fish on… we caught another 5 or 6 there… we fished from 9-2pm and we kept 21 fish that we weighed at Nitro’s house for a total of 153 lbs… Nitro’s scales on the boat didn’t work… so we do not know exactly how much the big fish weighed that we caught but they were released… also released 2 that we estimated to be about 10lbs… caught more that were in the 15-20 inch range that we also let go because we had a cooler full already… we are guessing with the ones we kept that was 153lbs and the other we released maybe had 225-250lbs… but not positive.. … all fish caught in 1-3 ft water with double action circle hooks on cut shad… main lake was 48 degrees… we found water 50 degrees and it warmed up to 56 degrees before we left… S winds at 6-12 mph… it was a very nice day …

Arrived at the big pond ( Texoma) at 1:45pm and fished till 5:30pm… it started out at 27 degrees and ended at 29 degrees, what a warm up!!! For the first hour or so we all wondered what the crazy heck we was doing… it was cold … but with 600 bucks worth of clothing it was not bad.It is amazing when you find fish how “ NOT COLD” it is. We caught over 65 fish today… nothing double but a lot of over 20’s and not many small ones … I counted triples on at the same time 7 or more times …. All fish caught on MOE’S bullet head jigs with the indestructible pepper assassin diped in chartreuse garlic spike it in 23-28ft water. I did not even look at the water temp but at one time it was snowing just a little NW winds 10 mph…]

Well, as I am sitting here listing to the rain outside I have to say.... IT IS WET.... just an update and I am sorry for not posting much... this has been my worst fall and winter in years on Hubbard. There as not been alot of fish caught and the hybrid rodeo that usually happens every winter has yet to come. We have done a little catfishing... no real big ones has of yet. I will keep you guys informed when it is picking up. February is usually not very good, but I can not se how it can get worst ..LOL... maybe we will all have to wait till March... I hope everybody is doing well and that the job market in your field is holding strong.

The fishing has not been real good. I have yet to figure out a pattern, on the 23rd it was 65 degrees and now we have snow on the ground... go figure. The water is still abouve pool level. I will keep posting and everybody have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...

Fished from 2:00pm to a little after 5:00pm. Missed a few fish early but found a good school. We had our 15 minutes of fame ( a little longer) and that was it. 10 hybrids, 8 legal and some huge whites…. After they left picked up a few stranglers. We never seen the 15-20 mph winds and it was quite nice out. All fish caught on pepper DA’s with a 1oz bullet head from MOE’s. I will tell you what, I have had that pepper DA since Texoma and it is still holding strong. Winds were 2-10 mph and water temp was 50 degrees. Nitro's biggest fish was 7.6 lbs.

Had the chance to fish the big pond this morning with JD and good friend Ruben. Our original plan was to fish for small mouth this morning because I have yet to catch one there. I can not count how many times I have been on a boat on Texoma and somebody catches one but me. I had my Gizz 4 and my flitter baits ready and tied on from Smack Tackle thanks to Scott …. Well the trash fishing only lasted about 13 minutes when birds started working. Sorry, we just can not pass on birds … drifting soft plastics were the ticket today. The fish were thick and the bite was good it was real windy today but we were lucky enough to have the birds and fish stay in the arms of the lake and we could drift real slowwwwww….. caught over 70 fish today and they were caught on Dead Assassins with 1oz bullet head jigs dipped in chartreuse garlic from MOE’s and yes the dip did have a better bite. Water was 52-53 degrees and it was 31 degrees out side when we started A lot of over 20’s but nothing in the 10lb range fished from 7:30 am till 11:00 am.

we started at 7:00am and fished till 11:00am. First few spots nothing then located fish on a southern hump in 22ft water. We moved around a little till we found good fish on a point in 17-22 ft water… picked up big whites and nice hybrids, later found the greatness of winter fishing with birds and fish… Mike caught a real nice hybrid and we caught some big whites again and a few other hybrids. I also caught a 4-5lb blue on a sassy shad!!! I guess he was potlicking off of the whites and hybrids. All in all a good day fishing and heard it was on really good later in the afternoon…. All fish caught on SSS slabs , sassys and Royal assassins from MOE’S in various depths. Water was a getting better 59 degrees and winds were really nothing

Fished Hubbard yesterday solo for a few hours. Fished from 7:30am till 11:00am and the first hour I did not even get a hit. I started a little late but I do not think I missed anything because if I did there were no signs of it. No fish on the flats, usually this time of year they are there. Well I fished a lot of structure today picking up one here and there and post front conditions with N wind and bright skies made the first few hours kinda tuff. Finally found a load of fish spread out on the levees sitting right on top of it out from a flat…. Caught a lot of keeper whites, nothing 15 inches or anything but respectable fish to say the least with an occasional small hybrid and “EL” yellow bass . They were hugging the bottom and a slight twitch of the slab was the trick. All fish caught on 1 oz. SSS slabs from MOE’S in 22-28ft water… winds were N 5-10 mph and the water temp has finally dropped when I started it was 59-60 degrees. I did see some Loons today… Last year I seen 1 , but it look like a mother with 2 small ones…. We do not get many Loons on Hubbard but am glad to see them. Also…. Do not be fooled by the lying ass birds , not gulls, hovering the loons. I made multiple drifts through them with nothing on the graph or the lure!

We fished 2 afternoons and 3 mornings.. the birds showed us the fish... The last day it was real foggy.... Fished Hubbard with good friend John this morning. We tried a few shallow spots for hybrids but none that we could find. We made are rounds in the thick fog and mist to locate some active birds and fish. We caught numerous whites that were good size and alot of under sized hybrids. We fished from 7:00am till 10:00. All fish caught on SSS slabs and CO-HO's in 12-26ft water. Winds picked up 10-15 S and water temp was 65 degrees. Sorry, no pics today...

Had the chance to fish with good friends SuperDuck and Fast Guy. We started out early down south with a little bird action and caught some whites and 1 keeper hybrid. We went further south and Fast Guy put us on fish the rest of the morning…. We stopped and George said fish should be hear… the screen lit up and it was hybrids and the NEW LAKE RECORD FRESH WATER CLAM caught by Super Duck, LOL. Got a call and went back North to Hybrids and whites… we later moved again and found a small flurry and commenced to whacking hybrids… over 25 legals caught today with just a few whites that were huge….. The sassy was the ticket today for our hybrids… all fish caught in 12-26 ft water on Fiesta Slabs and 4 “ sassy shads with 1 oz heads from Moe’s. Water was 65 degrees and the wind got brutal about 10:30 am so we headed back to load up by 1100am……

Had the chance to fish Hubbard in the afternoon with my uncle Henry that came in town…. He loves to fish and that is what we did. Started out at 1:30pm and fished till 5:30 pm. It was a nice breeze and I am glad I brought my sweat shirt it got a little chilly on the water…. Whites were easy with nice ones holding good on structure 18-26 ft water… they are starting to gang up a little and when we get some cooler water temps they should bunch up nicely. I found fish 6 out of 9 spots…. The one thing I did notice is the ever elusive yellow bass is making a strong come back “EL” will be happy. We had a few small hybrids with 2 being legal. Some spots I fished there was just the slightest sign that they were there. Did find birds working late down south but I could not catch nothing out of them. Seen Sassy Man and the great looking pup healer he has, nice seeing you Doug. All fish caught on SSS Slabs and that was it in 18-26 ft and water temp was 64 degrees.

Fishing was pretty good Friday morning on the whites and smaller hybrids… we did catch a few legal hybrids but nothing huge. We tried a few new spots since the regulars are getting a little crowded, I guess word of mouth spreads very quick. Found fish shallow to start off with on the east shore and then worked the flats with birds. The good thing is that when the birds stopped the fish stayed… that is a good sign. The windier days are producing better and the whites are starting their fall feeding. Caught some nice 13-14 inches mixed with a few smaller. It will only get better …. We started early with swim baits, CO-HO’S and smacks from MOE’S then slabs produced better on the flats for some reason. Had Casey that does alot of Bass fishing videos out with me ... so here are a few shots...

My Birthday present from JD..... What does a guide like JD do on a day off he goes fishing with his buddies..when we make him …. Well all I can say is JD started of strong with 2 trash fish and a respectable striper…. We were fishing structure and all of a sudden “WHAM” I had a freight train 13lbs and 31 inches of pure happiness …. On my birthday… I do not know about you guys but what else could you ask for That is the biggest striper I caught on Texoma in I do know how long… too long… After that we chased birds and caught boxers and some over 20”… A great morning in my book.

We BBQ some hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch at the cabins and then we took the wives out for a little boat ride and see if we could get “EL Nitro’s” wife on some fish… We managed a lot of birds but not many fish and picky too. We drove around and tried some shallow areas and we found fish pushing shad into the trees that were flooded Just like trash fishing we picked some nice fish for the 2 hours we fished and did manage to put Jeannie on a nice one … All fish caught on Fiesta Slabs and 4” CO-HO’s with a ¾ jig head from MOE’S.

Started out the morning fishing with good friend Super Duck at 7:30 am with a little drizzle and rain. Caught some under hybrids in shallow water then moved over to some flats to see what was going on. No birds but fish were there with a few splashes. We caught some under hybrids once again with some very nice whites in 12-22ft water. Look on the drops and when you mark them on the graph drop a slab and when they move shallow throw a CO-HO. I do not exactly remember water temp but I think is was around 64-65 degrees. Once then skies cleared we did not stick around much longer. We left around 10-10:30 am and seen Sea-Pro Todd making his way out All fish caught on Fiesta Slabs and 4” CO-HO’s with a ¾ jig head from MOE’S…A pic as the front cleared… I thought it looked cool

When I left there I went home and grabbed my stuff and met “EL Nitro” at his house and we were off to Texoma for the weekend. We arrived at the lake around 3:30 pm to some massive winds…. We went out for a little afternoon fishing while we waited for the wives to arrive at the cabins… They had to work all day We found some birds working and mostly box fish with a few over 20”. When that died down we cast on a sunken island and caught fish in 1-2 ft water We left at 6:00 pm so we could meet the wives… All fish caught on Fiesta slabs and CO-HO’s with a ¾ jig head from MOE’S. Are you starting to see a pattern I think we seen Chris Carey , but I was not sure and he had a boat load.

All I can say is it was WINDY!!!!! Fished this morning for 1.5 hours and the birds were working. Caught numerous white bass and some small hybrids. That did not last long so I headed South and that was tough... the winds were 20-25 mph out of the N-NW and I has 3ft swells , so I turned the boat around and the wind started picking up again.... went to the marina and called it a day. Just can not fish in winds like that... But a good sign of the birds showing up...

Had the chance to fish with good friend and fellow mod Sharon on Friday. She was off all week on vacation and I do not get the chance to fish with her too much anymore because of scheduals. I did inform her that fishing would most likely not be very good but she said she wanted to "just go fishing" Well , for all the guys that post a topic asking "should I go " this just proves my point... you can not catch fish sitting on the couch!!!!!!!!!! We started out with post front conditions ,but we had the clouds and wind on our side. Found fish on flats and we did pretty well. The bite was light and a lot of short strikes. Nice hybrids and shorts plus a mixture of whites... most legal and only a few small ones. We would then mark good schools on the graph in depper water and slab them up... We caught fish on a plethora of lures with soft plastics being the best on hybrids. The liked the smaller profile CO-HO and the larger fiesta slab from MOE'S along with the fast Ally spinner bait ...go figure All fish caught in 2-22ft water and water temps were 68 degrees.... N winds 15-20mph.. I can tell you this ....when the sun came out they shut down ...

Fished with good friends "EL NITRO" and Gene reeves this morning. We wanted to see if we could catch some fish with the bright blue skies and little wind... first spot I hooked up with a hybrid and we all missed multiple fish. We moved to another area of the lake and started catching fish "EL" caught the only legal hybrid today I think and we caught many shorts. Whites were in the area also and Gene reeves slowed rolled a spinner type bait a wooped us on that deal I had my best luck with the CO-HO today and the proto slab from MOE'S. Everybody had stuff to do so we called it quits at 9:00 am. All fish caught on a CO-HO's, SSS Slabs , 3" sassys from MOE'S and a spinner type bait from BP in 2-16 ft water. Water temps was 68-70 degrees and wins were N 2-5 mph..sorry no pics today...

Guys, the fishing will only get better.... now, the only problem will be a consitant pattern. Some days we will kill them and some days might be tough. Once November gets here it will be really good...

Hello everybody… Sorry I have not had any updates but things have been hectic. I have been fishing some on Hubbard and some on other lakes. This time of year I try to get as many honey do’s done as I can. The fishing is picking up and the hybrid bite is starting to show. On cloudy , rainy and windy days the fish should be good. On the bright sunny post front days the fishing will be ok. As the month carries on once we hit the great Hollows eve ( My B-day) the fishing should be kicking strong. November will be lots of fish and the birds will lead the way. The afternoon fishing should really pick up here in a week or 2. As December gets here it is time for dead sticking plastics and great hybrid days. The fishing can be some of the best of the year but you have to dress warm… Don’t be scared and come out and join me. I am going to attempt to fish in the morning, it is suppose to be real windy and maybe some rain… so it might be perfect. I have also had computer problems the last month so my blog has been a little on hold. If you have any questions feel free to call or e-mail me…

9-17-09 Afternoon

Had the chance to sneak out of work early Thursday and head up to the big pond :D Super Duck , FastGuy and myself wanted some of this great top water action we have read about…. Fished the great JD Lyle on his air craft carrier for the afternoon bite. JD fished that morning , but I will let him tell that story. We fished from 4:00pm till 7:00 pm with great results. Top water fish , and great size :thumb: these were not schooling fish but blind casting in the shallows… If you have never caught a 8lb striper on top water in 1-2 ft of water you should give it a try… Those fish were blowing that 4.5 inch top water out of the water 2 ft… The original plan was to fish Friday morning but JD talked us in to going that afternoon as well… stayed in the beautiful Hidden Acres cabins…. I only have one pic but Super Duck has a few… we really did not have time to take too many pictures as it was fast and furious action….

After a great night of sleep at the Hidden Acres cabins we were off once again and joined by good buddy Ruben… he drove up for some of the great top water action….. We do not know what happened but it was far from great for us !!!! We caught fish but nothing like the afternoon before. I would have lost money betting on our chances for that morning… oh well, sometime you can not catch 8lbs everyday… I hope the bite stayes for you guys,,, and I hope we did not catch the tail end yesterday morning. I would like to that JD Lyle once again for a great time fishing and the accommodations he provides with his great boat and cabins. We called it at 10:00 am to go pack up and grab a bite…. I bet those fish went stupid later in the morning but sometimes you make the call...

First off I would like to remember all the victims of 9-11-2001, that was a sad day in history and I will never forget that the rest of my life.

Had the chance to fish with good friends Super Duck and John Nitro on Fairfield Lake. We left the house at 4:00am and arrived at the lake at almost 6:00am. We started out catching good size baits which was a plus. We went and set up at our first spot and caught a small red. Second fish was the biggest red I have seen in person and been witness caught … Mike hooked into a brute , you should have seen his eyes…. At one time while he was fighting that thing we had 3 fish on at the same time….John and I lost ours but Mike got his in the boat. His was 18.9 pounds …. We managed a good amount of reds and kept 5 for us to have for some dinners and John was handy with the net… he caught us nice Tilapia and the biggest blue gill I have ever seen. That afternoon we went back out and that was a huge mistake…. When we got on the water huge thunderstorms rolled in, lighting just shooting out of the sky…. We made the very smarter decision to load up and get out of town… Fairfield is was down and the ramp is crap…. WE COULD NOT PULL THE BOAT OUT OF THE WATER…. It was pouring down rain and the truck could not get enough traction on that steep ramp to get it out… Finally with the boat on the trailer we use the motor on the boat to help get the truck over the hump, and fishtailed all the way up the ramp with smoking tires…. I know this is a long story but did I mention Mike got a 3/0 hook stuck thru his hand when he slipped in the boat… John had to push it through and cut the barb, I also ate some fresh jalapeño for lunch earlier with my food and stupid me rubbed my eye.. It swelled up like I got punched…. Also when we got the boat out , John’s window would not roll up because it got so wet .. I told John I would drive back to the cabin, on the way in we seen some pretty deer…. But one of them decided to jump in front of the truck… yes ladies and gentle men, we hit a freaking deer!!!!! Luckily we grazed his ass and he swung around a few times and ran off.. Truck was ok… with the window still down and raining, Mike suggested we stop the truck, and do a reboot… he said it works on his computer so why not… we pulled over … turned off the truck and started back up… IT work… Needless to say when we woke up the next morning and it was raining… We all looked at each other and said… lets go home… if the ramp was not so bad we would have fished, we fish in the rain all the time… but we had enough…. Had to work really hard for them though. We did not fish long as all the pleasure boaters started coming out arounf 10:00am for their last hurra at the lake.

Fished with good friends SuperDuck, Ruben and Skeeter Steve :) This was the best day of fishing that I have seen in about a month. We started at the flats and we caught fish 2 ½ hours. Big whites bass, small hybrids and 1 keeper hybrid,,, We mainly fished top waters and when they would go down we fished slabs and CO-HO’s. It is time for the swim bait !!! I would use the smaller profile CO-HO’s right now over the bigger shanghais and sassy shad, but if you find them in deep water use the heavier sassy shad to get the bait down. The top water bite also the last 2 days has not been a fast retrieve , but better with a pop, pop then stop... they would knock that thing out of the water on the stop …. The swim bait retrieve needs to be steady but not real fast also. After that hot action stopped Matt called and we picked him up, caught some more fish deeper water. We caught a lot of fish, the most in a boat that I have been in in a least a month, very few small whites but quite a few under hybrids, they are still fun on top :D We fished from 7:00am till 11:am … all fish caught on various BIG top waters , CO-HO’s and slabs From Moe’s , everybody was using a different one and I could not tell you which one did better except they will be on the way later this years :thumb: Water depth was once again 5ft to 26ft and water temps are an unbelievable 81-83 degrees, which I think has these fish going. On a side note, not much boat traffic, Fridays were as bad as Saturdays there for a while but with the start of school, killing little birds and everything it has calmed down. I will not be on the water AT ALL this holiday weekend so you guys have fun.

Since my job was nice enough to give all of the employees a day with out pay I went fishing…beats the hell out of a pink slip !!! SuperDuck and I started a little early and tried to see if some fish might be shallow before daylight, we caught a few but nothing to brag about. All I can say is that this has been a weird August first part of September. We later found fish schooling on a flat and is was some good fishing . As SuperDuck messed with the fly rod I commenced to kick his butt with a big top water and Co-Ho :grin: he finally put that thing up and started catching fish. All in all a good morning with fish found later with the graph and slab. We found fish in as shallow as 3ft and as deep as 29ft. All fish caught on various top waters, SSS Slabs and swim baits… water was a cool 81-83 degrees and the wind was big when we started but laid down. We started at 6:30am and fished till 11:00am , after that we went to the Flying Saucer for a little lunch and adult beverages.

One word of advice… never ever drink an energy drink at 3:00pm when your trip is at 3:30pm when it is 100 degrees!!! Man that thing made me feel really bad…. The trip started out with the front graph not working!!! after I solved that problem later in the day my stomper button went out!!! I thought it was my trolling motor, I even did not buy the big foot brand last time hoping this “new and improved” more expensive one was the ticket… it lasted 3 months….. Anyway…. Fish were stacked up real good in shallow water… they would only hang around a few minutes though. Later when we seen a few spread out we would throw shanghai swim baits and that is where we picked up our only legal hybrid. It is time to keep a CO-HO tied on just in case It is the dog days … and August and September are usually pretty tough on Hubbard… one day good, the next not so much… I look in a lot of areas this time of year… All fish caught on Moe’s SSS , Shanghais and TNT 180’s in 12-14 ft of water. Winds were nothing then 10 E later and water temp went from 84 degrees last weekend to 89... Nice and steamy…. Looks like I will try to catch up on some stuff before the great fall bite starts,,,

I would like to thank all the last 2 days on my on the water seminars. The main purpose of these trips was to try to explain why, what and how’s . We purposely stayed away from boats shows except this morning when we did fish an area then the boat show kinda started. We did not try very hard to find schooling fish, but we did look… and not much found. I felt there was no reason to fish schooling fish because most can catch them that way when we did I mostly tried to explain the do’s and don’ts and why’s and how’s We spent a lot of time with the graph and how to read maps to apply to any lake. The reason why fish should be there and patterns the lures to use his and that time of year. I made these guys and girl a little printed version of what we discussed. Today I would have like to found a few more fish in certain areas to show on the graph. We fished a lot of areas that hold fish but not necessarily this time of year. When we were done Mike and hamburgers waiting and good grab bags of lures ready for the guys when we cam in we spent another hour or two talking about things, and eating…. I hope every body that went had a good time and learned a little something. I will try to do a couple of these a year.. The scheduling is the tough part.

"Knew it was going to be a tough day with the wind and it being out of the East. But cathing fish was secondary to the goal of learning how to find and catch fish. What we learned today will apply to any lake. Can't say enough about how knowledgable John is and how well he can explain all facets of fishing. If you ever get a chance to go on a learning trip with John by all means do so. Then to top it off Mike (Moe's tackle met us at the dock with some really good hamburgers from the grill and this great big bag full of lures. It's nice to watch video's and get instructions from experts at seminars but you just can't beat being on the water in the real world of fishing.

"we also went out with john on the teaching trip today and it was so much more than we expected. john can explain things about fishing like a college professor or like an old friend, whatever it takes. we must have found fish in 8-10 different spots and went over why they were there, what makes a spot good, how to work baits, all that stuff was what we all wanted. then once at the marina moe's tackle mike was a class act all the way. he comes across just as friendly as john and talked fishing with us for an hour. thanks guys i can't wait to find fish on my home lake."

Fished with first time guest Kyle and his father David. Started out like yesterday morning with top water fish on the flats once again pushing nice shad out of the water. Crowed was not too bad today for a Saturday. While others chased the headache birds we held are ground and some nice fish to ourselves with just a couple of boats. When that died down we moved around and we actually caught fish at every spot I checked today, it was a much better catching day then yesterday and caught a lot of fish ( Sorry Josh) . Kyle wanted to keep a few fish and we did of the nicer ones. Once again the graph played a vital part in catching fish. They move a lot and once you catch a few they are gone. Today they hanged around a couple spots much longer than yesterday. Magic depth was 13-18 ft , windy currents. The wind got up real good about 10:00am and we looked for somewhat protected water, and guess what :D fish were there also… Seen a few TFF’s out. All fish caught on Moe’s SSS slabs , fast ally , humdinger and various top waters in 13-28ft. Winds were S 5-20 mph and water temp was 86 degrees.

Fished with repeat Josh and his father Colonel and they brought first time Jerad and Jim. Started out with pretty good top water on flats, they were pushing nice shad about 3-4 inches out of the water and today’s boat traffic was one of the lighter Fridays I have seen :) maybe people are finding work again….. When the madness started and the fish calmed down we relied on the graph once again. These fish are holding to structure but as soon as you catch a few they move, when I mean move I mean vanish!! As you can see by these reports there is a pattern going :D you have to move and look and burn a little gas. It was constant action just not great action. I hate working for fish but it is August and that is what happens. Jared wanted to keep some fish so I cleaned maybe 25 and we would have had to measure once again to keep more. Lots of small hybrids today…. All fish caught on Moe’s triple SSS, Fiesta and thrifty slabs.. I also have one Fast Ally left and that whacked some fish this morning along with various top waters and the soon to be famous bungee bubble with a clouser . I can not wait till Moe’s get his new top water bait,,,,Fished stayed a little shallower today as 14ft was or magic number. Winds were E then SE 5-12 mph and water temp was 83-85 degrees. Fished with repeat guest Jeff, Leonard and Eric. Started at 3:30 and fished till 8:00pm. I have to say this group is great, no offense to any of my guest and I love them all but Leonard has to be one of my favorite guys :) Jeff called last week and wanted to go but I was on Vacation. He said next Wednesday , I told him I have not fish in an afternoon in a while but we will give it a shot. Started out kinda slow but we managed to pick up fish using the great Lowrance :grin: Was not fast and furious but fish are holding a little to structure and points in 10-22 ft water. Could not find much fish deeper than that. We ended with a little schooling action at the end. Small hybrids were caught but nothing big… I have no idea where they went our are :Bang: They kept 50 to clean and maybe, just maybe we could have kept 75 if we would have measured but not much left of a 10 ½ in fish when you are done. All fish caught on Moe’s SSS, Fiesta and Leonard’s favorite rainbow slab. Also various top waters in 10-22 ft water… winds were E-N then NE about 10-15 mph and water temp was 84-86 degrees. Thanks again guys and it is always a pleasure.

What a day on the water. Fished with good friend “THE NITRO” and SuperDuck. We started early at 6:30am and the fish did not disappoint. The great thing about today , it was like a normal Sunday. We had the fish to ourselves and a few other boat for a while… no craziness and great top water action. We shot a little video today also. Today was my first time ever catching some fish on a fly rod. Kind of cool I have to say. As the top water slowed I found fish holding on structure and we caught 5 legal hybrids and a couple of shorts mixed in. It was such a pleasant day of fishing and catching. All fish caught on Moe’s SSS slabs, various top waters and clouser flies in 5-21 ft water. Winds were NONE and it felt like August. Water temp was 83-85 degrees. After the fishing we went to Gloria’s and had lunch.

Had repeat guest Eric , brother Mark, cousin Curtis and his father. We Started at 6:30am and fished till 12:30pm because of the rain. Had good top water action but it started a little late for us this morning. We were chased off the water at 10:00am by bad storms that lasted about an hour or so. We headed back out too fish busting the top and it was on like gang busters. A lot of nice white bass and under hybrids… I think the guys had a great time considering we almost left because of the rain. Fishing is pretty steady and even found some on structure.Used the Super Duck boat today and it is a nice ride. All fish caught on Moe’s SSS slabs, various top waters and the fast ally in 5-28ft water. Winds were calm to rough to calm out of the S and water temp is a cool 82-84.

Buddy John had the day off so we went back to Fairfield. We had 11 hookups with 9 fish landed. Sizes were 10.6 lb, 10.2 lb, 9.7 lb, 8.9 lb and 3 other that went 21-23 inches. Great day off and had fun. Hubbard fishing is ok... lots of smaller fish but big schools. The weekends are getting very crowded though.

Well, had the day off and The Nitro and Gene wanted to fish ,but we really did not want to put up with the crowds. We threw out a few lakes and figured they would all have boat traffic except maybe 2, Copper and Fairfield .Lets try something new….. We have never even been on Fairfield before but thought what the heck , it is either that or nothing. We arrived a little late not anticipating the longer drive but we did ok. Talked to Jackie and thank you sir for your help. If anybody wants to catch some reds give that man a call. He is very nice and helped us out bunches. We caught 3 legal reds, 1 rat red and a catfish. We did have a big red break off but lesson learned on that one. I have fished for reds on Tradinghouse lake but we trolled for them there. We used live bait and fished a way I have never fished before and it was a challenge to learn a new lake and all the things you are not accustom too. But it was a fun time we set out to catch reds on a lake never fished by us and we hit our goal. The water temp on that lake was insane,,,,, 96 degrees… Thanks again Jackie for the tips…

Fished guest David and his grandpa Jack .We started at 6:30 am and fished till 12:30 pm. Started out with a little rain , high winds and big waves and then went to nothing. Fish did school and they were very finicky that day, at one point we had fish and shad busting and we threw everything we knew and would come back empty…. David and I looked at each other and just shrugged… David got some pics of grandpa Jack and he had a great time. I do not really know how many we caught but it was not a stellar day on David and my standards but we know how it goes. David kept a few for Jack to take back to Memphis. All fish caught on SSS slabs from MOE’S , various top waters and David’s home made slab in water 10-30ft deep. Winds were 5-20 mph S-SE-E-N and any other way Water temp cooled because of the rain and clouds to a nice 84 degrees. David, thank you and it was a pleasure fish with you and grandpa Jack.

Had repeat Mike and son William. Started out at the same place the last 2 days and fish were not there thick but more spread out. We moved a lot today to stay away from the crowds and fish structure but those fish had nothing to do with. They are roaming around and most you find are small with the occasional big ones mixed in. Lots of small hybrids today. We caught a lot of fish, William (8 yrs) stayed pretty busy but smaller fish was the norm. Today was also the worst in fishing manners that I have seen this year. Nice schools of fish, shad and egrets working and 4-5 boats would constantly ROAR through the fish… I do not mean start the big motors and ease up… but full throttle to be the first there and catch 3 fish before they spooked the school.These are not the regulars but summer time fishermen. All fish caught on SSS slabs, Fiesta Slabs, various top waters , Fast Ally and humbugs in 10-32ft water. Winds were S-SW at 5-15mph and water temp was 87 degrees.

Well, today my son turned 15 yrs old and that means drivers education school in the near future!!!!!!

Had first time guest Johnny , Eric and Shawn for a morning of fishing on Hubbard. Started out with them being a little late They have all not seen each other in a couple of years and stayed up pretty late celebrating being together once again Boat traffic was not bad and neither was to much inconsiderate fishing. Large schools in multiple place and had to pick through fish but kept the bigger ones for them to have a small fish fry. Be careful as a lot of small hybrids being caught and please know the difference. Quite a few times fish would stop schooling and move … the boats would run and we would hold ground and still catch fish. All fish caught on SSS slabs, Fiesta Slabs, Fast Ally and various top waters in 5-35 ft water. Winds were 5-10 S-SW and water temp was 86 degrees.

I'm a Black Bass fisherman, well as John pointed out Large Mouth are actually part of the Sun fish section, but that's for another day.So my perspective on Sand Bass fisherman was always that you guys were Lazy, can cast were ever and catch fish and Lazy. Heck how much thought goes into catching Sand Bass, Find a School, Cast a Lure, Catch a Fish, Repeat.........Well on Monday July 6th, Ray Hubbard Guide John Varner proved all of those theories wrong, well a few.I now have a little more respect for this section, you guys and gals still have to find the fish and get on the right spots. There's no just "Cast Anywhere".I will let the video's speak for themselves and Watch them all as John will give some GREAT TIPS even us Bass fisherman can use.

Had first time guest and 3 generations in the boat today,Paul and sons Luke and John then grandfather Gary. When I arrived at the marina it was a who’s who of Hubbard….. You would have thought it was a day before a holiday I seen everybody heading south so I went north. We wanted about 10 minutes then the surface activity started and stayed up 3 hours. Now, I should have went south for the hybrids but we caught some huge whites on top water and the kids really enjoyed that, Got a call about hybrids and asked the dad if he wanted to go …. He looked at me and said “are you kidding , look at all these fish” … ok, stay we will. We had it pretty thin for an hour or so then the other boats showed up. Great day for the kids and they could not believe all the fish… I love having kids on the boat . Paul pulled out the fly rod and caught whites that away also. They kept a few for dinner but released the rest. At 10:00 am Paul said they were ready to go eat so off we went. All fish caught on SSS slabs from Moe’s , various top waters and TNT 180’s in 25-32 ft water. Winds were nice today 8-12 mph just enough to help with a breeze and water temps were 88 degrees.

Had good friends Steve Bradbury and Ruben fish with me on the hot Hubbard. We started out a 6:30am dropped Ruben off at 10:00am and finished at 11:30am. Steve wanted to keep some fish for a fry so that is what we did. Found fish all over the place and for a Thursday it was pretty busy. Did another little video for everybody…. Mostly fun but do show how to clean whites at the end. All fish caught on SSS slabs and fiestas from Moe’s and various top waters in 22-35 ft water. Winds were 0-5 mph and water temp was 88 degrees.

Had the chance to fish with first time guest Curtis on Hubbard this morning. He contacted me and wanted to learn the lake a bit. He did not need me to teach him about fishing or catching, that is for sure...We started out early at 6:30am and by 6:45 we were on steady fish till 10:30am . When that would slow I drove him around the lake and answered questions and showed what I could in that amount of time. We looked at structure but did not fish it much because of all the top water and the last hour or so was checking things. We caught A LOT of fish today….. Nice whites but once again no keeper hybrids, just some shorties . Not much else to report. I will tell you this…. With this heat by 11:00am it is REALLY HOT and please drink plenty of WATER before and during your trip. I should not be on Hubbard this weekend because of prior plans… All fish caught on tiny torpedoes and SSS slabs from Moe’s in 5-35 ft water… winds where 0-5 mph and IT WAS HOTTTTTTTTT…

Fished first time guest Dale and his friend Jake on Hubbard. We started out at 3:30pm and fished till 8:30pm. We checked a couple of spots with a few caught and then found fish stacked up on a roadbed. They were hanging on the edge in 24ft water. Later we moved because I told these guys we should find some top water action. They are everywhere so GO FISHING …. It is getting busy with boats and weekends are going to be tough. Now, if you do not want to deal with crowds learn your graph because fish are on structure, but it is hard to pass on top water fish. no big hybrids for us, a mix of quality whites and a few small ones. Bigger fish are deeper. All fish caught on SSS slabs , proto type bait from Smack Tackle and tiny torpedoes in 5-32ft water… wind were 0 to5 out of the S and water temp was 86 degrees. When I left my house my truck said 100 degrees, when I got to the lake the bottom fell out and it read 79 degrees. It stayed pretty nice for a while until about 6 pm then you really felt the humidity .

Fished repeat guest Joel , wife and his son. We started out at 6:30 and fished till 12:00pm . This was one of those days……. I really do not have much to report. We fished as much water as we could until the wind got up really bad. After that we were limited to were we could fish. Fish were very scattered and never grouped up for us that day. Even on the north side we had 3 ft swells it was horrible. We caught fish, mostly on the small side and not a whole bunch. We were the bug today and the windshield smacked us. Joel and his son are good fisherman, they bring the their rods and lures… I just have to put them on fish. A few fish caught on SSS slab and an assortment of slabs that Joel had in 10-22ft water. Winds were 15-25 mph S and water temp was 84.

Had repeat guest David and first time on the boat his daughter Wes and his friend Paul and daughter Rachael. This was suppose to be a morning trip but my motor acted up and once again had water in the fuel. After going back in with only 10 minutes on the water we regrouped for the afternoon. After going home and pumping 10 gallons of fuel ( with water) out everything seemed fine. SuperDuck called and needed help with his boat and told me to just take his for the afternoon and the next morning and try to tune in those HD graphs We started at 3:30pm for the second time and fished till a little after 8:00pm. We caught some good fish and the girls had a blast. We started out South and picked up some nice hybrids and made our way to a few other spots for the whites. Seen a crane flying and he looked like he was investigating something by a ridge I fish and sure enough the fish were stacked in on top I threw out the marker buoy and it was pretty good action for a while… We started a Moe’s Tackle boat show. David, thanks for the understanding and patients about the boat. All fish caught on Fiesta Slabs, 1.5oz SSS slabs and TNT 2.5 minnows in 18-32 ft water , winds were 10-20 S and water temp was 84.

Fished the afternoon with JV4 on the great windy lake of Ray Hubbard. JV4 needed fish for an upcoming fish fry and the 2 we caught at Texoma just was not going to cut it.. LOL.. we started at 5:30 pm and fished till 8:30pm. Went straight South because of winds and it paid off. We caught legal hybrids and some huge whites. I do not keep many hybrids but we kept 5 plus the whites for the fry. The wind laid down a little so we went exploring. We checked a couple of place that have been holding fish but they were not there. We moved back east and found fish , no hybrids but good whites. We found some fish schooling as well. All fish caught on TNT 2oz 180’s and TNT 2.5 oz long slab, SSS slabs from Moe’s in water 22ft-35 ft water. Wind was 15-25 South and water temp was 84 degrees. Took this when I had almost all the whites cleaned.

For some reason JV4, Gene Reeves and I had this brilliant idea to go to the big pound of Texoma. Talked to JD and he said the bait bite is great but lure fishing not so much. We don’t need no stinking bait, We are master lure fisherman. LOL.... well after getting a little late start because of the fine Rowlett police department and a tail light out on the trailer we hit the water a few after 6:00am. We started out with top waters blind casting…… we did great…. 2 fish too the boat and hooked 2 more, 2 largemouth but shook the lures… After that GREAT TOPWATER bite slowed we caught a great sunburn!!! At 10:30am we cut our loses and ran home….. Just to let yawl know… the bait bite is great but lures…not so much

Fished with Matt Friday because he text me at 5:40 am! We started at 7:00am and fished till 11:00am. Started out south and did not find much, later we found a few small schools of fish. They were very weird as they looked liked schooling mullet on the coast. We checked multiple spots and found fish . One of our most productive spots you had to cast out and burn the slab back and let it fall was the best way these fish would hit. I do not remember how many we caught but it was not 100 Water was 82-83 degrees winds were strong out of the south. All fish caught on Fiesta slabs, SSS 1.5 oz and top waters (tiny torpedo for me) in 22ft-32ft water. Thanks Matt, I enjoyed the day not working the trolling motor

Had repeat guest Mike and his son William for a morning trip to Hubbard. We actually started early because I felt like my group yesterday might have missed out on some action. Well, they were not there today! We moved around and found some schooling action but mostly small fish. After that the winds picked up horrible. It really limited us to where we could fish , but we gave it all we had. Below are 2 pictures of 2 keepers that William caught…. Well lets just say there were 3 more keepers and that was it. Yes, 5 total keeper whites to show for our effort. We might have been able to keep a couple more but they would have been small fish. I always report the good with the bad and you guys see all of my reports. At least William and Mike did get some top water action for about 30 minutes even though they were small fish. All of the spots yesterday that held fish were bare today…… All fish caught on tiny torpedoes, Humdingers and SSS slabs from MOE’S in 7-28ft water. Winds were S-SE 10-25 mph sometimes steady at 20mph and water temp was 75-78 degrees.

Had repeat guest J and his father in law David for a morning fishing trip on Hubbard. We started a little late this morning but the fishing was consistent. Fished from 7:00 am till 12:00pm. We started out with a little top water action with fish pushing bait to the surface. Caught a lot of fish today and kept the bigger ones for them to take. No hybrids for us today but bunches of white bass and David caught 1 really nice Large Mouth Bass…. Released for another day. The fish are starting their early summer pattern and heavy schooling should start pretty soon. This is going to increase the boat traffic but we will deal with it…LOL…
All fish caught on tiny torpedoes , TNT 180’s and SSS slabs from MOE’s in water 10ft to 26ft deep. Look off of shallow humps and points and big schools are moving through. Winds were strong at first 15 out of the N then laid down to zero. Water temp was 77 degrees.

Had the chance to have repeat guest Kevin, son Riley and grandparents Don and Carolyn. This group has fished with me at a few times, so I cleaned the boat up real nice, scrubbed the vinyl, washed out the live well, put lures up and for what….. To get it nasty again. We fished from 3:00pm till 6:45pm when they said they were ready to go. When we started it was very windy, so I fished somewhat protected water..Did fish one spot way south at the end with 1 white bass, the ride was pretty rough and then we left. Kevin wanted to keep the bigger whites and that is what we did except for a few smaller ones that were deep hooked. All fish caught on SSS slabs , royal assassins and bare hooks from MOE’S , TNT 180’s in 10-24ft water. Winds were 15-20mph S-SE and water temp was 76 degrees.

Had first time guest Jordan and Taco on the Super Duck Express for a morning of fishing. Jordon won the drawing at the MOE’S garage . Got a little late start because of marina mix up but that was ok. Fished from 6:45am till 12:30pm. Started out South with shad and a few blow ups. If we would have been there earlier I think we could have got them but we managed a few from there. Jordan asked that we do a little learning as well so we went through some techniques , presentations and so on. We caught some good numbers of whites but pick through the smaller ones. Caught a couple of hybrids but nothing huge. Water temp was 77 degrees and winds went dead calm after a while. All fish caught in 8-31ft water on Moe’s SSS slabs, Fiesta slabs and the big Kahuna’s .Pleasure fishing with you guys and the Super Duck Express is a SWEET RIDE .

Had the chance to fish with good friend JV4 this afternoon and it was well worth it. Fished from 4:30pm till 8:00pm. Winds were strong out of the North to start but laid down. Found whites at multiple locations with a couple of legal hybrids. We then went and fished deeper water and found huge whites and keeper hybrids… nothing huge but the biggest was almost 6lbs on JV4’s digi scales. We caught a bunch of legal hybrid and I do not even know how many whites. A great afternoon to be on the water. Started with me with the 1 oz SSS and I finally moved up to big boy baits…. THE BIG KAHUNA’S. JV4 stuck with his 2oz TNT holo. No swim baits today or top water. Did see a few shad busting the top……. Did not even pay attention to water temp, sorry. All are fish were caught on TNT 180’s, SSS slabs, Fiesta Slabs and THE BIG KAHUNA’S

Had first time guest Raymond and his father in law Dick on the boat this morning. He needed to start a little later then what I have been starting but that was ok. We fished from 7:45am till a little after 12:00pm. We loaded up, drove 50ft and started catching fish. Mostly small fish but some keepers mixed in. Raymond wanted to learn how and what of white bass fishing. We checked a lot spots and I explained to him what I do. For this being a teaching trip we caught a lot of fish .He wanted to keep fish so we kept the biggest ones nothing under 12 in and caught a few in the 15 in range. We kept his limit of whites and 1 legal hybrid. We caught some shorties but not many. The whites got bigger as the day went on All fish caught on SSS slabs, TNT 180’s with 3.5 in Royal assassins in water 16-28ft deep. It was a beautiful day with clouds to start then with sun.

Had first time guest Allen and his fish catching machine wife Robbie. I meet him at MOE’S Yard Sale ,We talked about fishing for at least an hour. He bass fishes but wanted to learn a little to take his wife out and not chunk and wind all day for the green carp sucker mouth fish. We started at 3:00pm and fished till 8:00pm. Fishing was not as good as yesterday but respectable. All I know is Robbie caught all the fish and I think we caught 2 at least ,that is what she said at the end. Pleasure having them on the boat. If we wanted to keep their limit of legal whites might have been a little tougher today. Small one with some big ones mixed in. Allen wanted to keep a few for the fire house so that is what we did. No legal hybrids today but a few small ones. Remember fish were the wind blows All fish caught on SSS Slabs, TNT 180’s , Fiesta Slab in water 14-25ft winds were East then SE at 5-12 mph and water temp was 74 degrees. Lot of BIG boats on the water this afternoon because of the Thursday Night Concert at the Harbor.

I had the chance to take out a fun group for an afternoon trip. These guys are great, Jeff called a couple weeks ago and said “ Leonard is ready to go fishing” I had Jeff, Leonard, Eric and Frank (Fred). I took these guys out twice last year. Now Leonard is one of my favorite guys, sorry no offence to any body else… He is the ZEBCO 33 king of white bass. He brings his own reels, a 3 of them and loves them. We fished from 3:30pm till 8:00pm. Found a few fish scattered then hit a good group in 10ft of water on a shallow hump .We fished a few spots and caught fish on everyone, one spot only yielded 2 fish but the rest were loaded. Slabs were the bait for the afternoon. We kept their limit and caught twice as many. The afternoon fish were bigger with multiple hybrid that in 1 week would be legal But Frank (Fred) did catch a 19 incher. I love fishing with these guys and it is always a hoot with them in the boat. All fish caught on SSS slabs, TNT 180’s and Leonard’s favorite old Rainbow slab in water 10ft to 29ft with East winds 5-10 and water temp was 74 degrees. Thanks again guys

Had the chance to fish with first time guest Ron and his brother that makes football helmets. Richard I had an afternoon scheduled that Ron called about but I was already booked. His brother Richard was only in town for a very short period so I said we can do a morning. I asked them to be at the dock at 6:00 am. We got to the first spot , and fish on, After catching some fish with swim bait’s the top water action began! When that died down we went to slabbing. We picked up fish the whole morning, picking thru the small ones and managed there 2 man limit and caught tons of fish with 1 legal hybrid. Thanks guys it was fun, they made my job easy with their fishing ability. All fish caught on SSS slabs with 3.5in Royal Assassins , Shanghais and believe it or not even some on bare hooks in water 2ft to 26ft deep, winds were east and calm and water was 72 degrees. We went in at around 11:30 am.

After a long day yesterday what better way to end the weekend but fish :D I had the chance to fish with good friends JV4 and Mr. TNT himself Byron. We started out at 6:10 am with great top water and swim bait action on hybrids and BIG whites and finished fishing at 8:30 am . The hybrids were not all legal but a few. The rest were in the 15-17 inch range. It was pretty windy but we managed pretty well. When that died down we moves down the way and found good fish blown right into a cove. JV4 caught a nice 6lb hybrid that was our best size today. We switched sides of the lake and fished a couple of comfy spots out of the wind, no wind no fish :D When we were headed out to go home we seen some happy shad and top water was on again. No hybrids but big whites. We left to head into the big waves and call it a day. All fish caught on big chugs, top dog , shanghais in water 2ft to 27ft. Winds were 15-20 N-NE and water temp was 73 degrees. After that we meet the wives for breakfast and Bryon headed back to Okie land.
