Lake Ray Hubbard Fishing Report

Lake Ray Hubbard Fishing Guide Report

Lake Ray Hubbard has been very good to good for October. Had a few tough days especially when we didn’t have any wind. November is here and the weather is awesome. It seemed like summer held on for an extra long time this year. Our water level isn’t bad, about 2.5 ft low. The weekend traffic died down considerably after school started and it will be like fishing weekdays on the weekend! Please remember I offer trips 7 days a week and the weekdays there isn’t a sole on the water.

White Bass Patterns

Lake Ray Hubbard from November until it really cools down is an exciting time to fish. White bass and hybrids like to move really shallow and we will actually be casting in 2-5 ft of water for those fish. Windy days are much better for this pattern. This time of year we have the gulls show up and can show the way on some days. Fish will start feeding for winter to get fattened up to get them through. If you find fish on structure they still have the tendency to move fast and your electronics are the key on days like that. When scanning structure do not disregard the little bumps holding tight to the bottom, as those fish are there just not extremely active.

 White Bass Lures

I use a couple set ups this time of year.  I will start the morning off with a 3-4 inch Co-Ho swim bait with a 3/8 oz jig head. My other is a slab with a jig tied above about 12 inches.  The slab I use is 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz depending on wind .If you find birds working throw that swim bait, if in deeper water switch to a heavier jig head, let it sink and just slow reel back to the boat. Don't forget to have you a top water tied on, but please be careful as that is when most hook accidents happen.
