Had the chance to sneak out with good friend JV4 for some mother’s day fishing. We started throwing top waters at 6:15 am and caught fish in the dark. Misty and very cloudy made the good fishing start a little later but worth the trip. We fished till 8:30 am so JV4 could spend time at his mothers. No big hybrids , but a couple of legals and some huge whites… on top water . Water was 72 degrees and the wind was strong out of the north. Caught a few on swim baits that Moe’s had a few samples of. I love this time of year early in the morning. Seen Mihn and Seapro Todd out this morning also… Not bad for a couple hours of fishing. All fish caught on big chugs, NITRO POP, Shanghai’s from Moe’s and a sample never dropped a slab… we had fish popping shad out of the water …. Love it. If you are looking to book a trip now is great for early top water and late afternoon. BUT, if you fish a morning and want top water we have to be at the ramp at 6:00am -6:15am... If I ask you to get there early , its not because I want to see anybody suffer from lack of sleep.. LOL
